In keeping with the Navy\'s outreach initiatives for the community, a blood donation camp was organised at INS Virbahu, the submarines base depot here on Friday in collaboration with AS Raja Voluntary Blood Bank. Commodore VR Peshwae, Commodore Commanding Submarines (COMCOS) East and Commanding Officer INS Virbahu inaugurated the camp. 

Visakhapatnam: In keeping with the Navy's outreach initiatives for the community, a blood donation camp was organised at INS Virbahu, the submarines base depot here on Friday in collaboration with AS Raja Voluntary Blood Bank. Commodore VR Peshwae, Commodore Commanding Submarines (COMCOS) East and Commanding Officer INS Virbahu inaugurated the camp.

There was an overwhelming response from volunteers amongst the uniformed and defence civilians. As many as 160 personnel voluntarily donated blood which would help in saving 456 lives in need.

Commodore VR Peshwae interacted with the blood donors and lauded for their noble and selfless act stating that donating blood is tantamount to donating life. All the donors were thoroughly screened and the blood collection was carried out under aseptic conditions by qualified personnel under the supervision of naval doctors. Post blood donation, all the donors were awarded a blood donation certificate.
