Speaking to reporters here after the meeting, CPI state secretary K Ramakrishna said that though Naidu did not consider their suggestion to organise this meeting for the last four years, he understood the importance of the meeting now. He hoped that the meeting would bring pressure on the Central government.
Lambasting BJP national president Amit Shah, he said he was misleading the public with false information. Participants in the all-party meeting realised the facts and the BJP could not cheat the public forever, he added.
CPM state secretary P Madhu said that though he had attended the meeting, his party would continue the protest against the Central government separately. He criticised Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu for not listening to CPM’s suggestion to convene all party meeting earlier. He blamed Naidu’s reluctance to insist of SCS for Centre’s denial of it to the state.
Welcoming the initiative of Naidu in convening all-party meet, Congress leader and former MLC Gidugu Rudraraju welcomed stated that the Congress was in the forefront in fighting against the Central government from day one.
He reminded that the Congress MP K V P Ramachandra Rao moved a Private Member Bill in Parliament for SCS. The party collected signatures from people on the issue, he said and called for a united fight against the Centre to achieve desired results.
Pothina Venkata Ramana Rao, state convener of Aam Aadmi Party explained that they would fight against the BJP government in Parliament and their MPs will support the cause of AP people. Lok Satta state president D Babji said that they would fight against the Central government along with the all other parties.
Republican Party of India state convener P Siva Nageswara Rao Goud said that their party would support the move of the Chief Minister on the issue.
CPI joint secretary Muppalla Nageswara Rao maintained that though the Chief Minister was reluctant to listen to the voice of public on SCS so far, he realised the real problem now. The CPI will continue its protests in future also and will decide further course of action in the party meeting.
AP Intellectual Forum president Chalasani Srinivas said that he would support the Chandrababu Naidu’s initiative of united fight against the Central government. He said that he was beaten up by police when he fought for the Special Category Status, but he supports Naidu for the benefit of common man.
AP Secretariat Gazetted Officers JAC secretary G Vara Lakshmi, AP Secretariat Women’s Association president N Satya Sulochana and other government employees association members said that they would stage protests by working extra hours.
The BJP was misleading the people on submission of utilisation certificates for the funds released by the Centre , said Vara Lakshmi. The journalists’ union leaders observed that there was a need to conduct such all-party meetings regularly to explain facts on the state and Central government relations.
