840 hectares damaged in flash rains
Agriculture minister Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy along with marketing minister C Aadinarayana Reddy, government whip M Mallikarjuna Reddy has visited the banana gardens damaged in Rajampet mandal due to heavy rains and hailstorm which lashed the district on Friday night.

Speaking on the occasion, Somireddy said that following initial reports, crops like mango, papaya, banana and karbuja were destroyed in 840 hectares in the district and 1,012 farmers incurred huge losses. The minister said he will ensure all help and arrange compensation by bringing the issue to the notice of Chief Minister after receiving a comprehensive report from the administration.
He directed Rajampet RDO Veera Brahmam to conduct loss estimations immediately. Government whip M Mallikarjuna Reddy urged the minister to initiate steps for immediate release of crop compensation. Agriculture JD Tagore Naik and others were present.
