Vijayawada: The services of Chinese-made air-conditioned hi-tech boat will be made available for tourists of AP’s capital city Amaravati soon. The Tourism Development Corporation has imported the boat spending Rs 1.19 crore. The 36-passenger capacity boat is having facilities like that of an air-conditioned (A/C) bus.

Every seat has a life jacket facility and foolproof security has been provided inside the boat as per the guidelines of international navigation. Now the Tourism department has bought a boat with safety facilities taking into consideration the boat accident which occurred at Pavitra Sangham.

The boat would be introduced in Krishna River in Vijayawada soon. The AP Tourism Development Corporation (APTDC) is waiting for permission of irrigation and ports departments to introduce in Krishna River for passengers travelling purpose.

According to the officials, the boat has been imported from China a couple of weeks ago. The boat has advanced facilities like air-conditioning, audio and video system. The boat captain also can use electronic navigation system with compass to travel in correct direction in the journey.

The advanced lighting and walkie-talkie facilities are available. The two-member staff--captain and assistant--can operate the boat. The boat has two engines each engine with a capacity 90 HP. Moreover, the Tourism department staff will supply snacks and cool drinks as per the order.

The Tourism department has plans to operate boat services from Durga Ghat to Punnami Ghat and Bhavani Island initially and it can be extended up to Pavitra Sanghamam later. Presently, the boat is anchored at Punnami Ghat. The operations would be launched once the permission was accorded, said APTDC Assistant Manager M Malleswara Rao.

Speaking to The Hans India, he said the ticket prices are yet to be finalised. He also said that sitting facility has been provided strongly without shaking. The boat staff are trained in swimming and rescue management, he said and added that the boat is totally secured.
