Saraswathamma unanimously elected MLC
Gali Saraswathamma, wife of former minister Gali Muddukrishnama Naidu, was unanimously elected MLC from Chittoor on Monday. The election was necessitated following the demise of her husband and MLC Muddukrishnama Naidu.

Following the withdrawal of the nomination of an independent candidate Masthan Reddy for the bypoll, TDP nominee Saraswathamma has been declared elected unopposed.
Joint Collector and Returning Officer P S Girisha handed over the certificate of election to Saraswathamma. Election observer Karikalavelan, Chittoor MP Dr N Siva Prasad, MLC B Rajasimhulu, Chittoor Mayor K Hemalatha, DCCB Chairman A Rajasekhara Reddy and others were present on the occasion. The Joint Collector declared that the code of election has ended in the district.
