Vijayawada: Pratyeka Hoda Sadhana Samithi (PHSS) president Chalasani Srinivas said that Samiti would stage protests in all the villages across the State on May 20.
Participating in the round table meeting here on Tuesday, he said that the people should stage protest demonstrations at all panchayat offices in the State. He also said that the Samithi would conduct bus yatra in the 13 districts of AP. He asked the public to join and extend support to the ongoing agitation.
Already the Samiti achieved success in highlighting the issue, he said and pointed out that now all political parties had to take up the slogan.
He suggested that the leaders should come out with demand for special status instead of indulging in politics.
The involvement of students would make the agitation a success, he pointed out and hoped that the students would involve in the stir after colleges were reopened from July onwards.
CPI State secretary K Rama Krishna asked the political parties and leaders of various organisations to come and join them to fight against the Centre.
He said that the agitations would not give results, if the parties and organisations differ on the issue of special status. The CPI leader also asked the students, teachers' unions and all associations to take active role in the ongoing agitation. He said that the special status demand would become a reality by August, if the agitation is intensified.
YSR Congress president Malladi Vishnu said that his party has already taken initiative and all the leaders were actively participating in the protests. He criticised Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu for using the special status for political interests. YSR Congress MPs resigned for their posts, he recalled and asked the MPs of Telugu Desam to follow suit.
CPM State committee member Ch Babu Rao, Congress leader Meesala Rajeswara Rso, former MLC Jalli Wilson, and leaders of various associations were present.
