Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh (SAAP) chairman Ankamma Chowdary assured Volga Archery Academy founder Cherukuri Satyanarayana that he would pursue all his demands.
Vijayawada: Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh (SAAP) chairman Ankamma Chowdary assured Volga Archery Academy founder Cherukuri Satyanarayana that he would pursue all his demands.
Following the assurance given by the SAAP chairman, Satyanarayana called off his 4-day long hunger strike here on Friday. Ankamma Chowdary on Friday once again requested Satyanarayana that he would pursue all the demands made by him, which include proposal to the Central government of Dronacharya award, to release cash prize announced earlier by the government to Lenin and Volga Academy.
He gave lemon water to Satyanarayana and Krishna Kumari to end their hunger strike. Cherukuri couple thanked all the supporters, political parties, archery associations and students for their support.
Earlier, Cherukuri Satyanarayana and his wife Krishna Kumari along with national, international archers and the students demanded apology from archer Jyothi Surekha and her father Surendra for abusing him, his wife and family.
Parents of the students visited the academy and extended their support to Satyanarayana and his wife who were on a 4-day hunger strike. More than 50 students and politicians, sports personalities participated and expressed their solidarity with Satyanarayana.
They alleged that archer Surekha was sent out from the swimming training centre for various reasons and later joined Volga Academy. She was a student from 2006 to 2013.
International archer and physician Dr Mandava Rishita condemned the allegations levelled by archer Jyothi Surekha and her father Surendra against Satyanarayana. She demanded an unconditional apology from both Surekha and her father for their abusive comments against her Guru Satyanarayana and his wife.
She said that Surekha was trained at Cherukuri Volga and denying that was Guru Droham. She said after the death of Lenin, she continued her training for three more years at the academy, Rishita said.
DR College Physical Director Md Amzad Ali said that Surekha was representing Petroleum Sports Board and was not entitled for AP State cash award and that too from the sports authority.
He said that Surekha started her archery career at Volga Academy under Satyanarayana and Lenin as her coaches. Denying them as coaches was the greatest blunder she has committed, he said and added that this kind of allegations were not good for her career and future.
