A delegation from Toyama University, Japan, visited GITAM University for collaborative research in the areas of pharmacology, pharmaceutics, biotechnology, bioinformatics and bioengineering here on Thursday.  GITAM Institute of Pharmacy (GIP) arranged an interactive session with the senior faculty in the areas of research.

Visakhapatnam: A delegation from Toyama University, Japan, visited GITAM University for collaborative research in the areas of pharmacology, pharmaceutics, biotechnology, bioinformatics and bioengineering here on Thursday. GITAM Institute of Pharmacy (GIP) arranged an interactive session with the senior faculty in the areas of research.

Senior Director, Organisation for International Education and Exchange, University of Toyama, Dr Hikoshi Ogino, International Affairs Division, Toyama Prefecture Fujii, Education Division, Toyamo University and Ramesh Dasari, Coordinator, Education Division, Toyama University, visited GITAM campus and interacted with faculty of GIP, GIS, GIT, GIMSR for possible collaborative research. The faculty of GITAM highlighted their research in cancer biology, biotechnology and medicinal plants.

The delegation visited Central Research Laboratories, Pharmacy Laboratories and Cancer Biology Laboratories and appreciated the research work at GITAM. The delegation is impressed with the facilities available at GITAM campus.

Deputy Dean, Department of Life Sciences and Bioengineering, Prof Shinohara gave a detailed account on the research going on at Toyama University in the areas of genetics, protein engineering, biosensors, brain studies, drug synthesis, drug discovery, bioinformatics, tissue engineering, and process system engineering.

Vice-Chancellor of GITAM Prof MS Prasada Rao addressed the delegates and felicitated the guests. Principal of GIP Prof S Ganapaty highlighted the research activities of the institute.
