Vijayawada: Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh (SAAP) is organising a three-week summer residential coaching camp for outstanding Sepak Takraw players at SKPVV Hindu High School here.

About 20 boys and 20 girls were picked up from selection trails held in the first week of May.

The SAAP nominated two coaches for teaching techniques to the selected players for 21 days.

The selected players had a good track record and had won medals at both national and state levels.

The SAAP was providing lodging and boarding to the players with the support of Krishna District Sepak Takraw Association (KDSTA) and SKPVV Hindu High School management.

Camp caretaker S Ramesh said that SAAP was providing all facilities to the players free of cost. Hygienic food and accommodation was provided to all the inmates, he added.

National player Raja Kumara from Vijayawada appealed to the state government to appoint qualified coach and provide indoor stadium facility for the players as provided in some states like Manipur, New Delhi, Kerala, Tamil Nadu.

Coach Pawan Kumar said that the camp would conclude on June 4.
