Over 5.2L crore spent on development, welfare during last 4 years: Yanamala

Amaravati: Lambasting the YSRCP and BJP, Finance Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu said that though there was visible development and implementation of welfare schemes in the State, they were not acknowledging it.

Instead of accepting the real development and welfare of the State, they were misleading the people and blaming the State government to gain political mileage, he said at a press conference at the Secretariat on Friday.

He said that about 19 lakh houses were being constructed in the State, but. the Opposition Party was unable to see it. He pointed out that Rs 5.2 lakh crore was spent on development and welfare in the State during the last four years. At an average, the State government has spent more than 100 per cent of the budget estimates.

Even though the revenue of the State did not increase, the government spent more money on welfare and development activities, Yanamala pointed out. He said that the State government was depending on borrowings for implementing the development activities and welfare schemes as it was facing acute shortage of funds and as there was no support from the Centre.

Referring to the YSRCP leaders’ criticism on implementation of poll promises, he claimed that they had fulfilled all the promises. He said that more than 103 welfare schemes were being implemented in the State. Roads were being constructed in rural areas, housing scheme for poor and other schemes were under progress, he said.

He said the government had accepted almost all the demands of the employees including PRC, fitment and others. About 25 demands of the employees were conceded, the Minister said.

Yanamala said the State was competing with Madhya Pradesh in agriculture sector and with Maharashtra, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka in industrial sector.
