Srikakulam: Male voters outnumber women voters in gram panchayats across Srikakulam district this time around. As the tenure of village sarpanches will be ended on July 31, the district panchayat officials prepared fresh voters list across all villages in the district.

As per fresh voters list, the total number of voters are 16,13,385 of them male voters are 8,14,227 and female voters are 7,99,158. Srikakulam mandal stood in first place out of total 38 mandals as total voters in the mandal are 68,364 followed by Sompeta with 59,758 voters and Mandasa with 59,750 voters. Total gram panchayats are 1,100 in all 38 mandals across the district.

The Election Commission and the state government will conduct elections soon and special officers will be deputed by village panchayats from August 1 till the elections are held. Due to hurry in preparation of voters lists in villages, mistakes are occurred regarding photos of voters and not removing of names of deceased persons. Voters names reflected in more than one village in so many gram panchayats. Migrated persons votes also not removed from the list.

People who are representing from different groups are filing complaints for rectification of these mistakes. “We have prepared fresh voters lists
in all panchayats as per the government orders and will enquire on mistakes and rectified if found genuine,” district panchayat officer Bantupalli Koteswara Rao told The Hans India.
