CPM stage dharna for houses to poor in Eluru
Activists of CPM organised a dharna at municipal corporation office here on Monday, demanding the government to allot house sites free of cost and build houses.
Eluru: Activists of CPM organised a dharna at municipal corporation office here on Monday, demanding the government to allot house sites free of cost and build houses.
CPM city unit leader M Srinivasa Rao presided over the meeting held on the occasion. Speaking on the occasion, the party city unit secretary, P Kishore and district committee member B Somaiah alleged that the TDP government had ignored housing for the poor. Not a single house was constructed for the poor in the city, they alleged.
The leaders charged the TDP with misguiding people by saying that they had been trying to acquire land for construction of the houses. Besides wasting time, the government was asking the poor to pay Rs 1 lakh for each housing unit.
As the poor cannot afford such big sum, the government should build houses on its own without burdening the poor. The leaders threatened the government to occupy government vacant lands on their own and distribute them among the poor.
