Nellore: It seems that the former minister Anam Ramanarayana Reddy is in a dilemma whether to take up active role in the ruling party or to maintain a low profile in the YSRCP if he shifts his loyalties. It may be recalled that the senior leader, who joined the ruling party a couple of years ago, has been disinterested to continue in the party as he is not enjoying significant position and due to group rivalries in the district.

He had recently made it clear about leaving the TDP, but yet to announce his decision about joining the opposition. He met the YSR Congress president Jaganmohan Reddy in Hyderabad on Friday where he reportedly failed to get any assurance for contesting from his own constituency, Atmakur, soon after shifting his loyalties.

Meanwhile, present legislator Mekapati Goutham Reddy announced at a media conference that he would be contesting from Atmakur constituency ruling out possibilities of Anam’s candidature from there on YSRC ticket. Now, Anam is in a dilemma to continue as an ordinary leader in YSRCP till the high command provides an opportunity to contest from any other segment.

“He cannot continue in the ruling party due to his adverse comments against the party and high command. So, he has no other go except to join the opposition or any other party,” said a local analyst.

YSR Congress chief also reportedly invited Anam Ramanarayana Reddy into the party without any prior demands. There are 6 sitting MLAs in the district and one from Gudur joined the ruling party recently. So, people are waiting for contesting from all constituencies in the district and internal differences likely to haunt the party if Jaganmohan Reddy allows Anam to be in the fray from any place, analysts say.
