Navy Marathon to be held on Nov 18

Visakhapatnam: The fifth edition of Navy Marathon 2018, in association with Eastern Naval Command (ENC), will be held on November 18. VNM's Race Director Dr Muralidhar Nannapaneni released the poster of Vizag -Navy Marathon (VNM) here on Monday.

The organisers were planning to bring some sports personalities as brand ambassadors of the event to make it a grand success and hoped the event will draw tourists from across the country.

Captain Animesh Nagar, captain of adventures and sports officer of Eastern Naval Command (ENC), said the fifth edition of Navy marathon was special as the race route was certified by Association of International Marathons and Distance Running (AIMS) which makes Navy Marathon 2018 a qualifying race for world major marathons.

The winners in the event will participate in Tokyo Marathon, Boston Marathon, London Marathon, Berlin Marathon, Chicago Marathon and New York City Marathon. VNM's Race Director Dr Muralidhar Nannapaneni said the run starts from Beach Road, outside Viswapriya Function Hall and goes along the stretch of Beach Road towards Bheemili. “We are expecting that the number of participants will touch 15,000,” he added.

The participation fee in the event for full marathon Rs 1,500 (42.195 kms), Rs 1,300 for half marathon (21.1 kms), Rs 1,000 for 10 kms and Rs 600
