Kurnool: R Karikal Valaven, Principal Secretary (Municipal Administration and Urban Development) has instructed the officials concerned to allocate the houses being constructed under the NTR Housing Scheme for poor living in urban localities by July 18.

He held a review meeting over the implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) with district officials at the Collectorate here on Friday. Addressing the officials, Karikal Valaven has instructed the officials to maintain transparency while allocating houses to the beneficiaries.

Explaining the modalities to be followed while allocating houses, the Principal Secretary informed officials to ensure houses are registered are woman’s name or on both wife and husband.

He stated 29,800 houses are being constructed across the district and the same would be allocated to beneficiaries. He also ordered the officials to send the details of beneficiaries along with allotment letter to the banks so that they can sanction loans. Another 15,000 houses were sanctioned to Kurnool city in the second phase under the NTR Housing Scheme, he said, directing the officials to identify the beneficiaries.

District Collector S Satyanarayana asked bankers to ensure speedy sanction of loans for beneficiaries availed the government schemes. So far, around 8,894 beneficiaries were finalised, he stated. MEPMA MD Chinna Tataiah, APTIDCO MD Jeevan, Nandikotkur MLA Y Isaiah, Syndicate Bank DGM Gopikrishna, NABARD AGM Parthu, LDM Nagesh and other district-level officials have attended the meeting.
