Chittoor: In a bid to avoid multiple and fraudulent property registrations, the state government has made linking of Aadhaar must while registering houses, plots, flats and farm lands, according to Revenue Minister KE Krishnamurthy. Earlier, the Minister inaugurated Registration office building here on Saturday, constructed at a cost of Rs 1.95 crore. Speaking to the media, Krishnamurthy stated that property owners and prospective buyers can download encumbrance certificates and true copies of the registered documents free of cost.

“The objective of the government is to strengthen the registration system by weeding out corruption and other fraud activities,” he mentioned. The Minister appreciated the district officials of the Registration and Stamps department for achieving Rs 279 crore during 2017-18 by surpassing the target of Rs 270 crore. He said the Registration and Stamps department is fetching more revenue to the government exchequer. The government decided to construct permanent buildings for all the sub-treasury offices in the district.

During 2018-19, Krishnamurthy informed the media that the Registration department has achieved Rs 83.58 crore up to June ending as against the target of Rs 363 crore. He advised the employees of the Registration office to work with honesty and not to give scope for allegations from the people. ZP Chairperson Girvani, MLC B N Rajasimhulu, MLA D A Satyaprabha, Mayor K Hemalatha, Joint Collector P S Girisha, District Registrar VSR Prasad and others were present. Later, the Minister spent some time with the TDP leaders at the guest house.
