Jagan calls for AP bandh on July 24

Kakinada: YSR Congress chief Y S Jaganmohan Reddy called for AP bandh on July 24 in protest against the inaction of NDA government in sanctioning SCS to AP. In addition to this, he asked the ruling TDP to join hands with the Opposition for a united fight on the issue. Addressing the media at his camp in Kakinada on Saturday, the Leader of Opposition said that the people of AP and all political parties should extend support to the bandh and make it a success to secure the Special Category Status for Andhra Pradesh.

At the same time, he wanted the TDP Lok Sabha members to resign and join the YSRCP for a joint fight. Let all the 25 MPs from AP, including those who resigned take up indefinite fast to achieve their goal, he said. In such a case, the national media which is not paying special focus on AP will definitely come to us, Jagan felt. Commenting on TDP’s claim of getting support at national level for their No-Confidence Motion in Lok Sabha, Jaganmohan Reddy wondered how the TDP could claim it’s an achievement when none of the parties mentioned about SCS to AP during the discussion.

Everybody had their own agenda and not even a single party mentioned about the issue on which the No-confidence motion was admitted in the House, he said. Even Rahul Gandhi in his speech did not even speak a word on SCS, the YSRCP chief said. Referring to Home Minister Rajnath Sigh’s statement about the TDP by calling it a friendly party, Jagan said that it was an indication about the understanding between the two parties. Referring to the speech of TDP MP Galla Jayadev in Parliament, the YSRCP leader said that time and again they expressed the views at different fora.

Jagan also referred about the existence of Planning Commission till December 2014 and only Niti Aayog came to existence after that date. But the Chief Minster never bothered to refer to the SCS issue then, he said. Turning his attention towards innumerable benefits including tax holidays on IT, GST and special incentives for industrial sector, Jagan said that this will ensure large-scale employment to youth who are jobless in AP.

Jagan found fault with Chandrababu Naidu over his visit to New Delhi on Saturday to thank the parties which extended support for the No-Confidence Motion of TDP. But none of the leaders of these parties spoke a word on SCS to AP, he said. Party senior leaders K Kannababu, D Chandrasekhar Reddy and others were present.
