Vijayawada: The lorry owners strike hit Sakambari festival at Durga temple. The temple authorities and devotees could decorate the temple with a very few varieties of vegetables due to shortage of vegetables supply due to ongoing lorry operators’ strike.

It is a tradition that all the varieties of vegetables are utilised in the decoration giving equal priority. The temple authorities decorated many varieties of vegetables but some are not available as per the requirement.

Hence, the officials prefer to decorate the temple with available varieties like curry leaves, coriander, bottle gourd, bitter gourd, cucumber, carrot, mirchi and other local varieties.

The sources said that the temple administration managed to decorate the temple premises with vegetables but it could not use many vegetable varieties. However, the three-day festival ends on Friday at 3 pm.
