Kakinada: The residents of Smart City, which attained the status in the first list, are still lagging behind in basic amenities.
An estimated 4.5 lakh population face problem with poor sanitation and bad condition of roads. In Burma Colony, the locals suffer a lot due to lack of proper sanitation for days together.
They complained that because of the irregular cleaning of drains, they turned into breeding grounds for mosquitoes.
In Kotha Kakinada area, the culverts turned out dangerous for the traffic movement.
The residents complain that though the culverts were constructed, due to lack of maintenance the broken cement slabs had posed threat to two-wheeler and four-wheeler riders, particularly during night time.
The locals seek immediate attention to these issues by municipal authorities.
