Minister Prattipati Pulla Rao inaugurates special platform for organic produce

Guntur: Minister for Civil Supplies Prattipati Pulla Rao inaugurated a special platform set up to sell organic farm produce at Guntur Mirchi Yard on Saturday.

Speaking on the occasion, he said the platform would be useful to get a better price for farm produce. Stating that the demand for organic produce was increasing, the minister said consumers were ready to offer a higher price for organic produce.

Reiterating that the government is committed to the welfare of farmers, he said the farmers could get better price for their produce through exports.

He reminded that the welfare schemes being implemented by the government for the welfare of farmers and urged them to avail them for their benefit.

Mirchi Yard Chairman Mannava Subba Rao said that separate platform would eliminate the middlemen problem and the farmers can directly sell their produce to customers for a better price.

He said the government would extend support to the Farmers Produce Organisations.

If the farmers get Good Agriculture Practices certificate, they will get export orders from other states, he added.
