Eluru: Police seized 300 kgs ganja worth Rs 30 lakh from a lorry at Devarapalli village on the National Highway in the early hours of Thursday and arrested six persons.

According to Kovvuru Rural CI Sarat Kumar, on a tip-off, Devaraplli police started checking at Devarapalli Junction around 03.00 hours on Thursday. When a newsprint loaded lorry trying to cross the junction, police stopped it for checking.

But the accused Ameer Aziz Khan alias Munna, Kareem Shajahan, Mukharin of Maharashtra, SK Burra Hussain Saheb of Guntur, Bharath Durga Prasad of Kakinada, A Satish of Maddelapalem of Visakhapatnam city were travelling in Swift and tried to hit the police with their vehicle.

But the police immediately chased the lorry and car and caught them. They found 300 kgs of ganja packed in packets in the newsprint laden lorry. The CI said that the six accused purchased the ganja from the Agency area in Visakhapatnam district and transporting it to Maharashtra. Police seized the ganja, lorry and Swift and arrested the accused.
