Srikakulam: Doctors negligence in treatment led to the death of three women at RIMS hospital in Srikakulam it was alleged. It may be recalled that three women patients died due to reaction of ‘Ceftriaxone’ injection at RIMS on Saturday. According to sources, doctors administered same drug with same dose for all the patients in a uniform manner without studying disease history, it was alleged.

Doctors, who have private practice, are paying less attention on patients which is often leading to wrong prescription, wrong dosage and recommending wrong medicine, said one of the patients. To cure typhoid, ‘Ceftriaxone’ injection was administered for all without assessing the case, said sources.

Actually, the government doctors are not allowed to do private practice during their duty hours but in Srikakulam it has been violated. Doctors are often depending on nursing staff and suggesting prescription over phone and nursing staff administering medicine to patients.

Furthermore, a five-men committee led by Srikakulam RDO NV Ramana submitted inquiry report to Collector K Dhanunjaya Reddy. After verification of the report, the Collector may initiate action against the doctors and staff at RIMS, who were responsible for the death of the women, by informing the higher officials of medical and health department.
