Tirupati: In a shocking incident, a second year MBBS student P Geethika, 19, of SV Medical College in Tirupati has committed suicide by hanging on Sunday evening at her residence in Sivajyothi Nagar here.
According to preliminary reports, she was living with her mother in Tirupati while her father Vijaya Bhaskar Reddy who was an advocate by profession died sometime back. Their native place is Kadapa and they were living in a flat for her studies.
It was learnt that she was a bright student. She was brought dead to Ruia hospital in the evening. She reportedly hanged herself with her chunni. Alipiri police, who are investigating the case, suspect personal or family reasons as the cause of death.
Joint Collector-II V Chandramouli, RDO G Narasimhulu, SVMC Principal Dr G Ravi Prabhu and other faculty members reached the hospital to know the situation. District Collector PS Pradyumna rushed to Ruia hospital from Chittoor after knowing about Geethika's death.
