NCC Cadets of AKTP Municipal Corporation High School Krishnalanka, APSRMC High School Patamata, PMC High School performed parade on the occasion.
About 113 officials and staff of VMC were given certificate of appreciation for their services to the corporation and the people on the occasion. Three sweeping machines worth Rs 45 lakh were also flagged off by the mayor.
VMC commissioner J Nivas said that with the support of the people and hard work of VMC staff they could get 5th rank in Swacch Bharat in 2018, 9th rank in City to live across India.
He said that Vijayawada was ranked 2nd in greenery and beautification award 2017 and Skoch order of merit award at the 52 Skoch Summit.
Corporation high schools students, VMC officials, staff and others were present.
