Amaravati: Though the Central government has not been supporting the State government in development of the bifurcated AP, the State has been achieving development, said State Assembly Speaker Kodela Sivaprasada Rao.

Addressing the media after hoisting the national flag on the occasion of the 72nd Independence Day at the Assembly on Wednesday, he regretted that unfortunately the BJP government at the Centre was not implementing its poll promises.

The State government has been fighting against the Central government for its rights, he added. Sivaprasada Rao exuded confidence that the State would have a bright future. “Despite facing several hurdles, we are on the right track,” he said.

He said that the Polavaram Irrigation Project was a miracle and after completing the project there will be no problem for water in the State. He said that the Rayalaseema region also will get sufficient water for irrigation, industrial and domestic purpose.

Reacting to the criticism of Opposition parties and delaying tactics of the Central government in construction of Polavaram Project, he said that these were not good politics.

He suggested to all political parties to see the project on public and water perspective but not political perspective. He announced that government will give promotions to the employees working in Assembly, very soon. This is a long pending demand from the employees working in Assembly for the last four years, since the State bifurcation.

The Speaker explained that they have been ensuring the decorum of the Assembly and Council. In the same press conference, Legislative Council Chairman NMD Farooq said that he was happy to celebrate the 72nd Independence Day in capital Amaravati.

State Assembly Deputy Speaker Mandali Buddha Prasad said that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has been developing the rural
areas, with the spirit of Mahatma Gandhi.
