CPM leader Ch Babu Rao, who headed the team, said the ruling party has been focusing on enhancing taxes but not on the construction of drains to let the storm water go out resulting in inundation of many areas in the city. “Main roads and a number of colonies were inundated though it was a moderate rainfall,” he added.
He said the drainage system is in total disarray in the city and both the municipal corporators and the MLAs evince little interest to set things right. “With the flood water entering homes along with snakes, scorpions, people could not live in them,” he said and added that moreover people are prone to epidemic diseases like malaria, typhoid and other viral fevers.
He recalled the ruling party leaders had been ruling out floods to Budameru for quite some time but the small rain resulted in floods to Budameru now. The leaders are now concentrating to serve Pulihora pockets to flood victims rather than attempting to solve the problem forever. He said the people would teach the ruling party a fitting lesson in the next elections.
