Awareness meet for fishers on welfare schemes held in Kakinada
An awareness meet on various TDP governments welfare schemes was organised for fisher folk of Dummulapeta in Kakinada urban area on Tuesday
Kakinada: An awareness meet on various TDP government’s welfare schemes was organised for fisher folk of Dummulapeta in Kakinada urban area on Tuesday.
Speaking on the occasion, Kakinada city MLA V Venkateswara Rao explained details of various schemes applicable to fisher folk.
These includes pension scheme, subsidy for purchase of fishing boats, diesel subsidy for fishing boats, ex-gratia in case of death while venturing in to sea for fishing, subsidy on fishing nets, subsidy on iceboxes to retain freshness of fish products till disposal, fee reimbursement scheme for higher education to the wards of fisher folk.
In addition to these, distribution of house sites for the needy, extension of loan to the extent of Rs 2.5 lakh and construction of community halls and cyclone shelters and allied schemes were intended for the fishers.
Venkateswara Rao asked the fisher folk to utilize these schemes for their benefit.
TDP local leaders and fisher folk of Dummulapeta attended in large numbers.
