Tirupati: SVIMS Director Dr TS Ravikumar reiterated his goal of making the Institute as best in patient safety. He has received the plaque of endowed chair from Dr V Krishnan and Dr Susheela Krishnan, who have donated Rs 1 crore during 2017-18 for establishing the chair in quality and patient safety here on Wednesday.

It may be noted that SVIMS has been forging ahead with its motto ‘First in Service – Best in Practice’ and has been striving for the patient safety in the last two years. Along these lines, Dr Krishnan’s family in Australia has donated the amount.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Krishnan has appreciated the SVIMS for going after various accreditations nationally and internationally and being ranked nationally. He lamented that while in Australia there is always a heightened awareness among public and strict adherence to reporting of errors from health organisations such culture is low in India.

He further stated that the research project in patient safety and health care quality titled “Safe practices Save lives Model Using Multiple Wedges of Improvement” is accepted for presentation by Dr TS Ravikumar in International forum on Quality and Safety sponsored by BMJ and Institute of Healthcare Improvement (IHI) to be held at Melbourne during September 10-12.
