Rajamahendravaram: Sub-Collector CM Saikanth Varma and municipal corporation commissioner Sumit Kumar have decided to put an end to long pending quarry problem in Simhachala Nagar, from which the people of that area are facing problems from many years. As part of it, they conducted a meeting with respective quarry owners.

Addressing the quarry owners, Saikanth Varma underlined the need to combat the problem immediately as many people of that area were facing problems with quarry pits. Quarries were spread in an area of 133 acres.

The quarry owners were not filling the pits after their work and as a result, many people were getting injuries by skidding into the pits. He advised the quarry owners to find a solution by discussing with the officials.

Corporation commissioner Sumit Kumar said it will take 30 years time to fill the quarry pits and to develop the area. In the interest of people, there was an urgent need to extend cooperation.

If the quarry owners not come forward to cooperate, action would be initiated against them as per rules, he warned. Responding to this, quarry owners assured the officials that they would discuss and come to a stand in this regard.

Urban Tahsildar TR Rajeswara Rao, corporation city planner Vara Prasad and other staff were present.
