Kandukur: Kandukur police arrested two engineering students on Thursday for involving in chain snatchings in Kandukur. According to Kandukur DSP K Prakasa Rao, Melakulapalli Raviteja and Damacherla Karhik Chowdary, natives of Turpu Nayudupalem near Tangutur.

Raviteja is a student of second year CSE at Chalapati Engineering College in Guntur while Karthik is a student of third year mechanical engineering in PACE Institute of Technology and Sciences in Ongole. The two students, who are habituated to luxurious life, started to snatch gold chains from women. They were involved in two chain snatchings on July last week and first week of August.

Based on the CCTV footage, police identified the students, and Kandukur CI K Venkateswraa Rao, SI Unnam Vemana and their team arrested the duo in Kandukur while they are trying to sell the gold on Thursday. Police recovered the jewellery from them and produced them before the court on Friday, said DSP Prakasa Rao.
