Vijayawada: Women Associations are fighting against the male domination in society and has been struggling to protect the rights of the womenfolk. Contrary to such organisation, a new association has been formed and decided to continue fight to protect men from the harassment of wives.
Due to impact of TV serials and other socio and economic factors, men, too, are becoming victims of domestic violence. It may be in the form of physical or mental.
A new organisation convened a meeting and shared their saga. The poor husbands explained their horrible experiences due to misuse of laws by wives because most laws are in the favour of women.
The new association has been formed as ‘Bharya Baditula Sangham, (Association of the victims of wives). About 50 persons participated in a first-of-its-kind meeting at Freedom Fighters Association Hall here on Sunday.
Speaking on the occasion, association president Balachandrasekhar Reddy said that the meeting was organised to chalk out a plan of action to redress their grievances.
He said that the major concern of the victims was false harassment cases filed against them by their wives and an unpleasant environment being faced at home.
He said the wives are creating mental disturbance and making them to face many problems, including monetary problems. He said that various sections were created to protect the women when harassed by men under Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005, but there was neither a section nor sympathy when husbands face harassment from wives.
“Chandrashekar Reddy further stated that a section of women are taking the advantage of the 498 (A) and blackmailing husbands, he said and added that I have lost property, cash, and jewellery, which was taken over by my wife and her relatives and they drove me out from my house”.
“I have no protection from the government or police department as there was no provision for any sections in law to save men from wives harassment”, he added.
