Ongole: The Emergency Response Service in Andhra Pradesh, the 108, handled 34,000 calls in Prakasam district since its change of management in last December, announced the 108 staff.

Speaking to ‘The Hans India’, the 108 services Prakasam district supervisor Pirla Siva Rakesh said that the 108 services were brought under the management of the consortium, UKSAS- BVG India Limited on December 12, 2017.

Since then the 56 mandals in the Prakasam district are covered with 33 ambulances and 74 experienced EMTs and 79 careful pilots.

He explained that the patients will be categorized into four types, Red- the ones that require immediate attendance, Yellow- critical but not with life risk, Green- Non-emergency and Black- patient died on the way.
Rakesh said that up to September, the 108 ambulances brought 4152 cases to RIMS Ongole and in them, there are 904 Red, 1278 Yellow, 956 Green and 14 Black cases were reported.

He said that they are also alerting the causality staff by sending alert to the screen placed in it and explaining the condition of the patient.
He said that the non-emergency patients in few cases, are insisting the 108 to shift them to private hospitals and in that case they are not able to serve the poor and emergency patients.

He said that the government hospitals in the state are providing best services and requested the patients in non-emergency and wants to admit into private hospitals to help the poor and emergency patients by engaging the ambulance of the private hospitals.

Rakesh said that the call center with 150 skilled callers working at Emergency Response Center in Mangalagiri round the clock, has handled more than 48 lakh calls in the state and 34,000 calls from the Prakasam district.

He said that they helped 8733 pregnant woman to reach hospital in time, shifted 5639 emergency medical cases to hospital for immediate assistance and attended 1980 accident cases also in the short period.

He said that project director of the 108 services Dr Gajanan Puranik and state operations head A Ramamohan Rao are constantly monitoring the working of all employees through the feedback mechanism and supports the staff by providing timely solutions.

He also announced that the organization has established a new mechanism Hospital Front Desk for 108 services in the RIMS in Ongole and other Government General Hospitals in all district headquarters with the cooperation of Dr Rajendra Prasad, advisor to health department.

He said that the front desk works round the clock and asked the public to utilize their services.
