According to the Ongole Rural Police, the woman Madhavilatha is living at Pernamitta along with her two children Janardhan (12) and Lakshmi (8). About six months ago, Madhavilatha’s husband Mintasala Koteswara Rao committed suicide in Ongole.
The family has been facing financial troubles after his death. Rangamma, mother-in-law of Madhavilatha, was sleeping at the house of the victims. But on Sunday night, Madhavilatha asked her mother-in-law not to sleep at the house.
Rangamma went to her house and returned to her daughter-in-law’s house on Monday morning. She found that the doors were closed from inside and smell of chemicals was emanating from the room. She alerted neighbours and they opened the doors using force.
Madhavilatha and her two children were found lying on the ground and vomiting. Neighbours shifted the three to the RIMS Ongole and the doctors announced that the girl Lakshmi was already dead. The woman and her son were admitted in the ICU. Ongole rural CI Ganga Venkateswarlu said that Madhavilata and her son are in critical condition at the hospital.
