Contract lecturers ended 36 hour fast in Vijayawada

Vijayawada: The 36-hour fast by women contract lecturers ended at Dharna Chowk here on Tuesday.

CPI State secretary K Ramakrishna, MLC Boddu Nageswara Rao, AP NGO president P Ashok Babu, CPM state leader Ch Babu Rao, UTF state president Shabji and others were present at the fast camp.

Speaking on the occasion, CPI state secretary Ramakrishna blamed the State government for its adamant attitude to solve the problems of government contract lecturers.

He alleged that the government had appointed the MLC Committee for solving the contract lecturers’ problems.

Later, it did not bother to implement the recommendations made by the Committee.

e demanded that the government implement time scale and allocate 12 months salary.

Boddu Nageswara Rao said the government should provide job security to contract lecturers as recommended by the MLC Committee.

Ashok Babu said the government which introduced contract and outsourcing system was deceiving the contract lecturers.

The TDP government had failed to implement the promises mentioned in the manifesto.

Ch Babu Rao and others also spoke.
