Vijayawada: About 250 walkers and other people underwent Bone Densitometry check-up free at Indira Gandhi Municipal Stadium here on Thursday.
The programme was organised by Sai Bhaskar Hospitals on the eve of ‘World Arthritis Day’ (WAD) on October 12.
Speaking on the occasion, orthopedic surgeon Pavan Kumar Ravi said that arthritis was an ageing related process or wear and tear of the joint, where as osteoporosis means weak or soft bones which are the reasons behind orthopedic problems.
According to European League Against Rheumatism (EULAR), the theme of WAD-2018 was ‘Don’t Delay, Connect Today’ which aims to highlight the importance of early diagnosis of Repetitive Motion Disorders (RMDs).
He said this camp was organised to create awareness in the people on how to maintain their bone health.
They were also told about the exercises and diet pattern they should adopt for better bone and muscle health.
A diet chart is provided to them which mentioned the diet resources both in vegetarian and non-vegetarian food which will give good calcium supplements.
The camp was led by Joint Replacement Surgeon Busireddy Narendra Reddy along with other doctors and support staff.
