Visakhapatnam: The Intelligence Bureau (IB) has issued an alert to all ports, Naval and Coast Guard in Andhra Pradesh to be on a high state of alert as there was a possibility of Pakistan-backed terror strikes at selected targets, including oil ships, harbours and other vital establishments.
The IB has also informed the ports, Navy and Coast Guard that the Pak-trained youths who are experts in swimming would use the sea route to enter India from east coast.
Following the alert, security has been beefed on high seas and at the sensitive establishments, including Visakhapatnam port, particularly at oil berths. The IB also alerted the oil companies to tighten security arrangements at their installations.
"In fact, the IB issues alerts whenever it smells something is fishy. This time the IB has alerted us of possible terror strikes. We take the alert seriously," sources in the Indian Coast Guard said.
