Visakhapatnam: As a part of the ongoing Sarannavaratri (dasara) celebrations, Goddess Kanyaka Parameswari at the temple on Sunday was decorated with 4.75 kgs of gold and currency notes worth Rs 4.5 crore.
during Dasara festival, the management committee of Sri Kanyakaparameswari temple in Old City decorated the Goddess Kanyakaparameswari decorates the Goddess with gold and currency notes every year. The Goddess decorated as Sri Mahalakshmi on Sunday.
After the special rituals that started in the early hours of Sunday, the priests decorated the Goddess idol with golden saree, golden plait, gold biscuits and several gold ornaments. The sanctum sanctorum was decorated with Rs 1, 2, 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, 200, 500 and Rs 2,000 currency notes worth Rs 4.5 crore.
Speaking on the occasion, temple committee chairman DV Balaji Kumar said that over 200 devotees gave cash and gold for decorating the Goddess. Hundreds of women attended Astalakshmi Kumkum puja. Temple main priest RB Kumar conducted the special puja.
The presiding deity at Old City, Sri Kanaka Mahalakshmi Ammavaru was decorated as Santhana Lakshmi on Sunday. Devotees performed special puja with one lakh basil leaves (Tulasi dalalu) and flowers. Temple executive officer SJ Madhavi and others were present on the occasion.
At Sri Satya Sai Seva Sadan, Sai devotees started Dasara celebrations on Sunday. As many as 108 women carrying 108 ‘kalasam’ from various parts of the city came to the Sadan and started the special puja.
The Goddess decorated as Sri Balatripura Sundari Devi. Sai Seva Samithi Citi Convenor PRSN Naidu and his wife Balatripura Sundari supervised the special Pooja.
