Kurnool: SV Mohan Reddy on Sunday recalled the services of police who sacrificed their lives while discharging duties. Flagging off a mini marathon rally held at Konda Reddy fort in the city on the occasion of the Police Commemoration Day celebrations, he called upon the people to play the role of a soldier in safeguarding the society by taking inspiration from the brave soldiers. “We all should stand by the families of brave soldiers who have laid down their lives for the sake of our mother land,” he added.

A large number of people from all walks of life participated in the rally, which was passed through Control Room (old), Kid’s World, Raj Vihar, Mourya Inn, RS Road, State Bank, and Children’s Park and culminated at Konda Reddy Fort.

Later the MLA, SP Gopinath Jetty and Municipal Corporation Commissioner Dr C B Harinath Reddy paid rich tributes to martyrs by garlanding to the statue of Reserve Inspector Narasimhulu.

SP Gopinath Jetty said the mini marathon was organised to remember the sacrifices of brave soldiers and strengthening a bond between the people and the police. A blood donation camp and competitive exams to unlock students’ talent have been organised on the occasion.

Additional Superintendent of Police Madhava Reddy, DSPs Ugandhar Babu, Venkatadri, Vinod Kumar, Nazimuddin, Iliyaz, inspectors Muralidhar Reddy, Yugandhar, Pavan Kishore, Maheshwar Reddy, BV Ramana, reserve inspectors, Rangamuni, Siva Ramudu and She Teams participated in the mini rally.
