41 benefit from screening camp for cleft lip in Vijayawada

Vijayawada: Basavatarakam Indo American Cancer Hospital and Research Institute (BIACH and RI) organised a free screening camp for Cleft Lip and Palate and also with Microlia (Absent Ears) for children here on Tuesday.
The screening camp was held from 9 am to 3 pm on BIACH and RI premises at Suryaraopet.
To extend these services to the needy, Basavatarakam Smile Train of BIACH and RI organised a special screening camp, said Dr D Mukunda Reddy, Professor and Plastic Surgeon, BIACH and RI.
He said as many as 41 children were screened and 16 were eligible for surgery and dates were given to the children for surgery.
After initial screening was done based upon their advice, further tests will be performed free of cost.
Based on the screening test results obtained, the patients will be further referred for free surgery to remove such deformity, said Dr Mukunda Reddy.
