Vijayawada: The Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) is planning to construct a 60-berth marina on the banks of Krishna River in Amaravati capital. There would be ancillary facilities and a training center for water sports at one place along with marina.

The project will be completed by September 2019. According to the plans, it will be the India’s largest marina and the State government wants to construct it under public private partnership (PPP) mode.

The facilities like boat launch, repairs, dry stack storage are being planned to provide in the marina. Similarly, the training would be given in sailing and power boating to the interested persons and even to tourists.

Other attractions like recreational activities including food and beverages services, event deck and view gallery and club house will be part in the Marina.

As per plans, the marina would be an added attraction to Amaravati capital city. CRDA senior official Chandrasekhar Reddy said that the marina would be setup in eight acres area. It will provide employment and attract tourists from across the globe, he said.

Already the State government is giving utmost priority to Tourism promotion. Several projects are in midway and some other new projects are also planned. Now the River based marina is one of the important projects of the government in Amaravati, said the official
