Tirupati: The Income Tax (IT) sleuths continued raid on the residence of TDP leader and realtor Peram Haribabu here for the second day on Wednesday. The IT personnel searched the house of Haribabu in Vidyanagar Colony on the outskirts of city on Tuesday.

Though Haribabu is not holding any position in the party, he is close to TDP leaders in the district, the home turf of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and his Peram Group of Companies engaged in real estate business and has offices in Hyderabad and Visakhapatnam.

Sources said that the raid is the follow up of the IT raids in Visakhapatnam and Hyderabad where many industrialists and entrepreneurs came under the scanner of the IT Department. Unconfirmed sources said that Haribabu and one of his close relatives, who is also a TDP leader, who were present during the raid were questioned by the IT sleuths.

It may be recalled that Ministers N Amaranatha Reddy and K Achannaidu have sharply reacted to the raid on Haribabu’s residence and alleged that the IT Department is targeting the TDP supporters and sympathisers.
