Need for united fight by BCs for rights stressed

Vijayawada: All India Backward Classes Federation (AIBCF) president Justice V Eswaraiah has stressed upon the need for the collective struggle of Backward Classes to get their rights, political reservations and eradication of inequality in the society.
He lamented the BCs in the state and country are still living in deplorable conditions despite 70 years of India’s independence. He addressed the state-level backward classes conference held at IV Palace function hall on Sunday. Former MLA Ilapuram Venkaiah presided over the conference.
The AIBCF has arranged the conference to discuss the problems being faced by the BCs in the state and the country. Speaking on the occasion, Justice Eswaraiah said he had no political objectives and attended the meeting to create awareness among the BCs about their rights. “I don’t have political objectives and came here to explain how to reach your goals”, he added.
He said, political power plays very important role in socio and economic upliftment for any community. And BCs constitute more than 50 per cent of population in the State but there is no proper representation in the politics, he added.
He said the BCs are playing sub-ordinate role in politics and been working under the leadership of upper caste leaders. He said the backward classes should wage a war for eradication of inequalities in the society.
He has appealed to the BCs to cast their vote judiciously in the 2019 Elections. Venkaiah said the Backward Class must fight a prolong struggle to get reservations equal to their population. He underlined the need for united struggle to get reservation in law making bodies equal to their population.
Most Backward Classes Welfare Association president, Duvvarapu Ramarao lamented that BCs population is more than 50 per cent in the state but they have only 25 per cent jobs in the State government. He said the BC employees are only 3.04 lakh against the 12.16 lakh total government employees in the State.
Most Backward Classes Welfare Association General Secretary Dr M V N Murthy has demanded that the State and Central government must allot 50 per cent reservations to the BCs in law making bodies.
Representatives of various caste associations belongs to Yadava, Vaddera, Salivahana, Rajaka, Kummari, Padmasali etc spoke on the occasion. The leaders have decided to continue their fight to get political reservations and for the upliftment of Backward Classes.
