Vijayawada: TDP state youth leader Devineni Avinash said that Dr Velagapudi Sambasiva Rao had given eye sight to many poor by performing surgeries free of cost. Avinash spoke here on Monday at the commemoration programme of Dr Sambasiva Rao.
He said that the first IOL surgery was done by him in Vijayawada in 1987. Rao participated in many international and national conferences and was a noted speaker and an inspiration to young ophthalmologists.
He performed eye surgeries through Rotary eye camps free of cost and was providing corporate treatment for the poor patients besides organising retina conference for the last ten years, said Avinash.
TDP city urban general secretary Pattabiram, noted ophthalmologists, leaders and others were present.
