Guntur: Lakhs of devotees thronged the Suryalanka Beach near Bapatla and took holy dip on Friday on the occasion of auspicious Karthika Pournami.

Devotees from Guntur and surrounding towns in Prakasam district came to Suryalanka Beach and took holy deep right from 5 am. MLC Annam Satish Prabhakar performed Sagara Ratna Garbha Harathi to the sea. He presented Eka Harathi, Rudra Harathi, Kumbha Harathi,and Veda Harathi.

Devotees burst crackers and subsequently took a holy dip in the sea. After taking holy bath, devotees went to Bhavannarayana temple and performed Pujas. Women lit lamps at the temple. Meanwhile, large number of devotees went to Kotappakonda and performed Pujas to the presiding deity Trikoteswara Swamy.

The devasthanam authorities performed Eka Dasa Rudrabhishekam and Lakha Bilwarchana. Similarly, special pujas were performed to the Lord at Amaralingeswara Swamy temple in Amaravati. Devastanam made elaborate arrangements for the convenience of devotees.

Similarly, special pujas were performed at Bramaramba Sametha Mallikarjuna Swamy temple at Pedakakani on the wee hours of Friday. The devastanam authorites performed special pujas in the temple. Special pujas and Abhishekams were performed in all Sivalayams in the district and the women lit Karthika Deepams.
