Every house to be supplied water through grid

Amaravati: Minister for IT and Panchayat Raj Nara Lokesh said on Wednesday said that every house in the State would be supplied drinking water through water grid. He was addressing the officials of Rural Water Supply scheme and the Irrigation department at the Secretariat.

Lokesh said that tenders should be called by the end of December to implement the water supply scheme in all the districts. He remarked that other States miserably failed after forming the water grids as there were no studies in assessing the availability of water.

He said that the State government has taken ample precautions in forming the water grid after carefully assessing the availability of water resources and necessary technology.

He said that water grid would coordinate with the Irrigation department in linking water resources. “An action plan would be prepared before hand to provide water supply during the coming summer keeping in view the low rainfall this year,” he added.

He instructed the RWS officials to fill all the 1,600 summer storage tanks with the cooperation of Irrigation department. “If necessary water tankers could be pressed into service to supply water,” he added.

Principal Secretary Jawahar Reddy, Irrigation Department secretary Sasibhushan, Water Grid MD Bharat Gupta and the officials of various departments were present.
