Guntur: Union Minister for Science and Technology and Earth Sciences, Dr Harshvardhan is likely to inaugurate Andhra Pradesh Meteorological Centre at SRM University, AP- Amaravati in the second fortnight of this month.

Dr K J Ramesh, Director General, India Meteorological Department visited the AP Meteorological site being established at SRM University on Wednesday and reviewed progress of arrangements of the AP Meteorological centre.

On this occasion, he discussed with Prof D Narayana Rao, Pro- Vice-Chancellor and Dr B Siva Kurmar, deputy registrar of SRM University, AP- Amaravati on the arrangements and also on the infrastructure being provided by the University to the AP Meteorological Centre.

Dr Ramesh directed his officials to expedite the arrangements to complete them in the next 10 days. Andhra Pradesh Meteorological Centre to be established at SRM University, AP- Amaravati will provide weather forecast services for entire state. At present, the India Meteorological Center at Hyderabad is serving the Andhra Pradesh also by providing weather information.

The instruments such as Rain guage, Anemometer, Wind vane, Evaporation Measuring equipment, All Sky Radometer, Ethelometer will be set up at this newly established centre.
