Vijayawada: UGC-sponsored one-day national workshop was held on Overview of Intellectual Property rights andPatent Law at Siddhartha Mahila Kalasala organised by Departments of Zoology and Computer Science in Collaboration with Krishna University and in association with 1QAC and IPRC on Thursday.
In this national workshop chief guest Dr PV Bramhaachari from Krishna University delivered the key note address on impact of patents on newly introduced start-ups.
He said that we have to encourage the students on Creative India and Innovative India which were introduced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
India stands globally in 66th place in innovation, he said and added that when obtaining permission to use creative works, you're concerned primarily with copyright law.
However, trademarks, trade secrets, and publicity and privacy rights sometimes come into play when permission to use certain types of works is sought, he averred.
Intellectual Property Rights are like any other property rights they allow the creator, or owner, of a patent, trademark, or copyright to benefit from his or her own work or investment.
Dr D Venkata Reddy, Consultant IPR attorney spoke regarding the specifications for designing trademarks and different types of trades. He also explained how to use already existed trademarks in association with existing ones.
Vijay Kumar, CEO of Win IP Services, Dr D Srikanth, Manager of RR Veterinary Health Care Pvt. Ltd., college director Dr T Vijayalakshmi, principal M Nalini, Zoology and computer science faculty and others were present.
