Vijayawada: All India Mahila Samakhya former vice-president and noted women's rights leader Chandra Rajakumari died at a private hospital on the city outskirts on Tuesday. She was 78. She was sister of CPI doyen late Chandra Rajeswara Rao.

She fought against various ills in the society and actively participated in arrack ban movement in the state. She was AP Mahila Samakhya state president continuously for six years. She was also elected as member for CPI national council and party central control commission.

She extended her services to the victims of Diviseema tidal wave also in 1977. Her final rites would be performed in her native village of Mangalapuram near Challapalli in Krishna district on Wednesday. The body would be kept for some time at Visalandhra office on Wednesday morning for the party activists to pay tributes before being shifted to Mangalapurm.
