Political scenario in Jammalamadugu hots up due to competition between Marketing Minister C Adinarayana Reddy and MLC P Ramasubba Reddy over securing party ticket for 2019 general elections

Kadapa: Political scenario in Jammalamadugu hots up due to competition between Marketing Minister C Adinarayana Reddy and MLC P Ramasubba Reddy over securing party ticket for 2019 general elections.

According to sources, few days ago, a meeting was organised by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu to finalise the candidate for Jammalamadugu Assembly segment and it concluded without taking any decision as both leaders are aspiring to contest from the same constituency.

The Chief Minister reportedly told to the two leaders that any one of them may contest for Kadapa Lok Sabha seat, while the other one will be in the fray for MLA seat. But, both the leaders have expressed interest to contest from Jammalamadugu segment only.

It may be recalled that there has been political rivalry between the families of P Ramasubba Reddy and C Adinarayana Reddy for several decades. Ramasubba Reddy uncle Ponnapu Reddy Siva Reddy, known as ‘Bombula Siva Reddy’ was brutally murdered by his rivals in a bomb blast some years ago in Hyderabad.

Then P Ramasubba Reddy entered the politics as successor of Siva Reddy and was elected as MLA from Jammalamadugu for two terms in 1994 and 1999 by defeating Devagudi Narayana Reddy, who was close relative of present Minister C Adinarayana Reddy.

Ramasubba Reddy had also worked as Minister in AP cabinet. He contested on the TDP ticket for 3 times in 2004, 2009 and 2014 from Jammalamadugu constituency.

He was defeated by C Adinarayana Reddy, who contested on Congress ticket in 2004, 2009 and on YSRCP banner in 2014 elections. Following differences with YSRCP President YS Jaganmohan Reddy, Adinarayana Reddy quit the YSRCP in February 2017 and joined the TDP.
