Vijayawada: TDP Mahila wing president Pothula Sunitha said that the TDP is committed to the welfare of BCs and it has been implementing various schemes for their benefit.

Speaking to the mediapersons here on Tuesday, she said that the people would question the YSR Congress about their stand on BCs welfare. She said that the Telugu Desam government allotted Rs 43,000 crore to BCs but the previous Congress government led by Rajasekhara Reddy had spent only Rs 1,400 crore.

She wondered as to how the YSR Congress leaders can claim that their party is a BCs' party. Only the TDP has the right to claim as BCs party, she claimed and added that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu introduced various welfare schemes for them. She pointed out that the State government had increased financial assistance up to Rs 15 lakh to BC students who wish to go abroad for education.

She also took strong objection to the comments made by former Chief Minister Nadendla Bhaskhar Rao against TDP founder late N T Rama Rao. She said that the people of the State never forget about Nandendla’s undemocratic act to seize power. She asked Nadendla not to make false campaign for political benefits.

Former Mayor Tadi Sakuntala, TDP leaders Chennupati Usha Rani, Banka Nagamani, Sriram Devamani, K Devamani, N Nagamani, M Lakshmikumari, Y Suchitra, A Syamala Rani and several other leaders were present.
